Running For PIBC Board !
I'm active with many planning related matters, and am running for the PIBC Board to advance effective land use planning and community building.
I'm a full RPP / PIBC / CIP member, based in Vancouver, with over two decades of diverse experience in the Metro Vancouver region and other parts of British Columbia. My career spans both the public and private sectors, providing me with a comprehensive understanding of planning policy and land development matters.
See below to learn more about me, why I'm running for the PIBC Board of Directors, and what I'm planning. If you agree with my plan, I appreciate your support.
Online electronic voting takes place between April 29 and June 13, 2025. Information about the election process and the position: www.pibc.bc.ca/board-elections
I want to support more effective land use planning and financially sustainable development for our communities and regions. Particularly, I am advocating the following initiatives to advance the planning profession, practice, and practitioners’ contribution to society:
1. Build stronger connections and relationships between planners and other city-building / land use professions, including respective professional organizations and industry associations. This includes reciprocal opportunities to participate and learn through cross-disciplinary conferences, events, and publications, beyond the periodic BC Land Summit.
2. Promote market-based solutions through supportive public policy and enhanced collaboration between planners and developers to successfully achieve community goals. Realize results by incorporating public and private sector perspectives, collaborating amongst different groups, efficient and effective processes, and balancing planning interests and development realities.
3. Provide additional continuous professional learning training and other opportunities for planners to expand their understanding of:
· the complex relationship between planning policies, market forces, financial factors, real estate development objectives, and how they contribute towards building complete communities.
· how local government policies can promote economic sustainability and resiliency through growth of local businesses and jobs.
4. Focus PIBC resources on land use planning matters that are within the purview and competencies of Registered Professional Planners.
5. Raise the public profile of PIBC as the body representing professional planners in British Columbia.
